Stephenie Meyer is the acclaimed author of the Young Adult series, Twilight, which has captured the imagination of teenagers (and quite a few adults) on both sides of the Atlantic. Acclaimed by Time Magazine as the successor to J.K. Rowling, the fourth novel in the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, was published in August 2008, while Twilight itself will appear in cinemas in January 2008.
Stephenie Meyer has a hugely enthusiastic fanbase, and an active, US-based website. Atom, a division of Little, Brown, and Stephenie’s publisher in the UK, approached us to create a new site to provide book extracts and launch and event information to her fanbase in the UK.
We created Bella, a bespoke Wordpress theme named after the heroine of the Twilight series, with a design based on the dark and seductive jacket design of the series. We used Wordpress because it offers a fast and Search Engine optimised content management system which Atom could update regularly, and encouraged them to provide as much content as possible in the form of extracts and event information. The site launched in conjunction with the UK launch of Breaking Dawn, which gained widespread offline coverage.
Client: George Walkley at Little, Brown.
