Granta: Best of Young American Novelists 2007
Granta Magazine publishes landmark editions every ten years, which collect together the novelists whom they consider to define their generation.
In 1983 it brought together Amis, Barnes, Rushdie, Naipul and many others - for the first time. In 2003 it was Monica Ali, Nicola Barker, David Mitchell, Dan Rhodes and others.
Granta also publishes the Best of Young American Novelists every ten years, which last time included Jonathan Franzen and Jeffrey Eugenides. Well, this Friday they will announce the novelists who have made the grade for 2007. We’ve built the site which will announce the list, and publish exclusive extracts from each author.
Granta has had a change of management and ownership in the last year, and it has the feel of a fantastically exciting magazine and house coming back into its own. The announcement of these lists is always a bit of a talking point in the media, and in the spirit of our times the site will solicit comment from visitors about the selection of the list, and the works posted on the site…
