[...] Times Emit: “The iPod Moment for Books”: How Serious is the UK Publishing Industry?: …
My comic novel My Inflatable Friend: The Confessions of Rollo Hemphill has been available in softcover, Adobe PDF, Mobipocket PDA, and Amazon Kindle. In general, the e-versions are priced aggressively lower, which is thought to stimulate, rather than detract from, softcover sales.

The iPhone specs include PDF reader capability, but Apple has never promoted this feature. However, since it can surf the Web's HTML pages, it should be able to read any Mobipocket book.

The most significant potential markets for e-books, IMO, is students who want the portability and convenience of downloading textbook excerpts and travelers who want a handy way to carry guidebooks and airplane reading material.
