Haha... that is a ridiculous poster. I've been quite pleased with my Sony reader so far (purchased from the Piccadilly store, which does have a proper display) - I'm a dunce when it comes to technology, but the Waterstones people were quite helpful in helping me set up. The BooksOnBoard people were beyond helpful in helping me transfer books to the reader (<a href="http://www.booksonboard.com/index.php?F=sony_reader_help" rel="nofollow">link to their Sony help page</a>) and now using my reader is quite simple. I love it!

[...] I was in Waterstones’ flagship London Piccadilly store yesterday, and decided to take a look at their in-store presentation of the Sony Reader. (And before you accuse me of being a hater, I am a fan of electronic books, despite some people’s interpretation of previous posts.) [...]

This was in Waterstone's, Chiswick in West London. It's one of the stores to get given the new livery treatment last year sometime.

To be fair, I've been in three different branches of Waterstone's over the last couple of days and seen attractive, professional point of sale in all of them. I agree though that this example is pretty second class.

Pure genius, what an absolutely shocking piece of point of sale. If I was bringing this device to market, I wouldn't have to look very far to see how it should/could be done. So the question I have is....'Would Apple do that?'
